Here are some links you need to start hacking the Kinect technology for your own creative uses.

First Buy the Kinect for $150

Read about the original 'Driver Hack Challenge' & info on how the Kinect Box works

Then get the OpenSource Driver (hack)
https://github.com/OpenKinect/libfreenect
(also located via OpenSource Kinect)

Then figure out how to use the data for your own softwares, in performance, music, video etc....
(That's the hardest part)
