PHOTOGRAPHY

Jamie's art practice began with photography, at the age of 13, before diversifying to include video, film-making and new media & performance art. Jamie taught photography in the Professional Photography Diploma program at Langara College, Vancouver, BC from 2002 to 2012 and she continues to host special event workshops introducing professional artists and keen amateurs to the medium of photography.

Jamie's course specialisations included conceptual photography, basic to advanced composition and design techniques and experimental darkroom processes for film. She likes to push students off the deep end, with provocative challenges during her classes and workshops, forcing them to think deeply about the medium and the many things that it still has to offer in the digital age of the moving image. She blends traditional darkroom, digital and software techniques, encouraging  a fusion approach to the work, in order to push the students artistic practices and images to their highest potential.
